SATEC Cooperating with Liangshan Telecom to Provide Emergency Communication Support for the Comprehensive Practical Exercise

On May 8th, a comprehensive practical exercise on the 2023 Sichuan earthquake and disaster was held in Sichuan, organized by the Sichuan Provincial Earthquake Relief Command and jointly organized by the Office of the Sichuan Provincial Earthquake Relief Command and the People's Government of Leshan City, Liangshan Prefecture, Chengdu City, and Ganzi Prefecture. The exercise was based on the major earthquake and disaster, focusing on the extreme scenarios of the "three interruptions" and the difficulties and pain points of multiple types of disasters, Highlighting aviation rescue and high-tech means, comprehensively testing the province's ability to respond to sudden natural disasters.

In this exercise, a total of about 8800 participants from the People's Liberation Army, the Armed Police, fire protection, forest fire protection, and other forces were invested, with an actual participation force of about 7200 people and a simulated pull test force of about 1600 people. There were also 7 participating helicopters and 2 large fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicles. This drill sets up 12 subjects, including urban aviation rescue, ruins search and rescue, road power communication repair and maintenance, disaster rescue, barrier lake drainage, water rescue, mountain rescue, tunnel rescue, etc., with a focus on conducting comprehensive practical tests on the organization and command, rescue operations, and action coordination of various emergency forces.

SATEC Team actively cooperated with China Telecom Liangshan Branch, bringing multiple sets of 0.5m Ka band satellite terminals and 0.6m Ka band satellite terminals to participate in the drill, and made every effort to ensure emergency communication support. The satellite portable station is responsible for transmitting real-time images of various rescue subjects in Ningnan County, Liangshan Prefecture to the main venue during this exercise, ensuring that the real-time images are clear and free from jamming.

In recent years, on the basis of learning from the short board of communication in the Wenchuan earthquake, Türkiye earthquake and other major earthquakes, SATEC has fully considered the geographical characteristics of Sichuan and the difficulties of emergency communication, implanted natural factors such as climate, altitude, wind and temperature into the design concept, appropriately extended the pilot period, and emphasized the reliability, stability and confidentiality of products. At the same time, based on practical experience, the demand for "miniaturization" and "intelligence" of emergency communication equipment will be included in important assessment indicators for product development.
