Sustained Communication Support｜SATEC Self-Developed Satellite Terminals Secure CCTV（China Central Television） On-site Communications at Gyirong Port, Shigatse

On August 26, a mudslide at Gyirong Port, Shigatse triggered extensive mountain landslides and road damage. The disaster-stricken area features complex terrain, resulting in large-scale outages of conventional public network communication links. Communication blackspots emerged in core rescue zones, hindering on-site emergency rescue coordination and information release.

To break down communication barriers in the disaster-hit area and ensure smooth official disaster coverage, SATEC worked closely with China Satcom. The company immediately deployed its self-developed satellite terminals to the disaster site for emergency communication support. These terminals established critical data transmission links for CCTV reporters’ on-site news gathering and material backhaul, laying a solid communication foundation for emergency rescue and public information dissemination.

The 0.6-meter Ka-band auto-acquire portable satellite terminal deployed for this support mission is a lightweight core emergency-communication device tailored for high-altitude plateaus, complex terrains and extreme disaster scenarios. It perfectly meets the communication support requirements for the intricate emergency-response operations at Gyirong Port.
