Recently, the "Dual Modem Satellite Terminal" jointly authored by SATEC and Sichuan Huaneng Fujiang Hydropower Co., Ltd. ,which belongs to China HUANENG GROUP, was officially published in October 2022 in the authoritative journal of water conservancy and hydropower engineering, Volume 41, Issue 5. It’s not the first time both parties have cooperated, and the scientific research strength of SATEC in satellite communication has been recognized again.
Satellite communication, as the construction of emergency communication, should be of utmost importance. Utilizing satellite communication as an emergency communication system can play an important role in disaster relief activities, and public and private networks have complementarity in emergency communication. In response to the current situation of coexisting public and private network extensions, the goal of the paper is to design a one machine dual network satellite portable terminal based on the ku-band, and study the platform integration and terminal integration technology of public and private networks. SATEC satellite terminal has a high degree of integration, portability, and ease of use, solving the problem of complex equipment, single communication means, and not suitable for front line forces in emergency communication.
The "Dual Modem Satellite Terminal" mainly elaborates on the composition of the dual mode system (including system parameter analysis, public and private network conversion design, antenna design) and system testing.
The test results show that the Dual Modem Satellite Terminal meets the expected design requirements. For emergency communication departments or enterprises with VSAT dedicated communication network, as well as business requirements for high-speed data transmission, the system will have public and private network communication functions after completion. The two networks complement each other to improve their emergency support capabilities and have a significant guiding role. The terminal has outstanding performance, with advantages such as wide coverage, fast speed, low cost, short time, and high efficiency. The lightweight terminal equipment has excellent characteristics of agility, efficiency, resilience, and random access, solving emergency communication guarantee problems under extreme conditions such as no network power outage. The integrated design allows the system to be fully assembled in a few minutes, and a single device has communication guarantee capabilities of multiple satellites, multiple master stations, multiple systems, and a combination of public and professional services. Flexible selection of public or private networks based on on-site conditions has effectively supported the combination of online remote dispatch and offline emergency action, gradually improving the emergency linkage mechanism across fields, levels, and regions, and promoting innovation in China's communication mode.
